Harley-Davidson Unveils the H-D Fat Boy Gray Ghost – A Special Tribute with Only 1,990 Units Worldwide

Harley-Davidson has introduced a special edition of its iconic Fat Boy motorcycle, named the Gray Ghost, to celebrate 35 years of the model’s legacy. First launched in 1990, the Fat Boy has become a cult classic over the years—especially after Arnold Schwarzenegger famously rode it in Terminator 2. Now, three and a half decades later, Harley is marking the occasion with a unique, limited-edition version that will see only 1,990 units produced globally.

Whether this special model will be available in India is still uncertain, but bike lovers here are already talking about it.

What Makes the Gray Ghost Special?

H-D Fat Boy Gray Ghost

The Gray Ghost stands out with its eye-catching mirror-like shine. This look comes from a special coating technique called Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD). It’s a high-end process where a solid material is turned into vapour and then layered onto the bike’s surface—mainly the fuel tank and fenders. After this, a clear coat is applied to protect the finish. The result is a bike that really shines, quite literally.

The silver powder-coated frame, chrome side covers, and other styling elements give it a clean, premium look. The design brings back memories of the original Fat Boy, with features like the round air cleaner and yellow detailing on the engine parts, tank console, and rocker covers.

Classic Touches with a Modern Twist

To give it that old-school Harley charm, the Gray Ghost comes with a leather seat trimmed with laces and tassels. There’s also a black leather tank strap with fancy stitched edges. One of the most striking features is the 3D winged emblem on the fuel tank—a nod to the original Fat Boy badge. Plus, each bike gets a unique serial number on the tank console, adding to its exclusivity. The rear fender proudly carries an Icons Collection medallion, making this edition even more special.

What’s Under the Hood?

Powering the Gray Ghost is the Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine. It delivers 101 horsepower and 171 Nm of torque, which is about 7% more power and 3% more torque than the 2024 Fat Boy. That means better performance, whether you’re cruising on the highway or tackling tight turns.

The bike comes packed with modern tech, too. It offers three riding modes—Road, Rain, and Sport—along with cornering ABS, cornering traction control, a drag-torque slip control system, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. You also get full LED lighting, a USB port, and a new 5-inch instrument display. For comfort, there’s a 49 mm dual-bending valve front suspension and a hydraulic suspension under the seat.

Price and Availability

In the US, the Fat Boy Gray Ghost is priced at $25,399, which roughly converts to around ₹21.5 lakh. There’s no confirmation yet on whether it’ll come to Indian showrooms, but considering the strong fanbase Harley has here, many are hoping it makes its way soon.
